Consultants give opinions. Practitioners give answers.
Remote Infrastructure Group wasn't built by consultants who study government roadwork. It was founded by a practitioner with a career spanning $133M+ in DRFA and government road reconstruction - writing the methodologies, building the programs, and managing the relationships that kept those projects compliant and profitable.
Who You're Working With
Heath Jones - Founder & Principal
Heath Jones has built his career delivering infrastructure programs where the margin for error is measured in days and dollars - not degrees.
His defining test came in far north Queensland, where he managed two programs simultaneously, two thousand kilometres apart: a $42M road reconstruction - 32km of new road deep in one of the most remote regions of north-west Queensland - running in parallel with a $16M DRFA flood recovery program spanning 7,500+ individual sites. Ten crews were mobilised in under two weeks, over Christmas. Both programs were completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
It was a capability built over years. On the $2.2B Coffs Harbour Bypass - one of Australia's most politically scrutinised infrastructure projects - Heath operated at the intersection of TfNSW approvals, independent verification, and fast-tracked pre-IFC construction, delivering critical path works that unlocked broader program progress in an environment where every decision was on the record.
That experience came together at Gympie DRFA Package 3, a $25M+ component of a $75M regional recovery program, where he progressed from Senior Project Engineer to Project Manager across the life of the works. He re-engineered design scopes to improve margin while accelerating delivery, and led multidisciplinary teams across complex, concurrent work fronts. The project was recognised with the CCF Queensland Earth Award in 2025. All three Superintendents remain active referees.
Heath built RIG for the contractors who are too busy running jobs to win them properly - and too good at their work to keep losing on paper. From first submission to final claim, that's the problem RIG solves.
Rhys Jones - Construction Capability Lead
Rhys brings an unusual combination to RIG: he understands how capability gets communicated in competitive markets, and he's been on the ground when it gets delivered. His background spans founding A1 Agency - a content and marketing business operating since 2017 - and brand marketing at Red Bull Australia, where he contributed to large-scale national activations including Formula 1, Cliff Dive, and Flugtag. That experience shaped how he thinks about positioning, audience, and what it actually takes to stand out.
The other side of that came on site. As an operator in far north Queensland, Rhys worked inside the project environment that sits at the centre of RIG's consulting work - gaining direct exposure to the documentation requirements, client relationships, and delivery pressures that regional contractors navigate every day.
At RIG, he leads commercial coordination and capability development - making sure the contractors RIG works with are presented to government clients the way their work actually deserves.
